Jose played a key role as an assistant/JV coach with the Farmington High School boys basketball teams during two stints: 1980-81, 1983 to 1991. He helped the Mike Lee-coached Tigers win Class M state championships in 1984 and 1988. “Mike and I focused on trust and respect,” said Jose, who is retired, living in Pottsboro on Lake Texoma in northern Texas. “We focused on education and taking care of yourself and others.” He also made monetary donations to the 500 Club and to the high school. He ran an after-school gymnastics program for all school-aged kids for one year.
