The Sullivans were both long-time, local athletic supporters, who played key roles in 1970 in starting the Farmington Booster Club, which turned 50 last year. The club was critical in supplying uniforms and other necessities for the basketball and cheerleading teams. Some of the fundraising events included Saturday night dances, which the Sullivans were happy to chaperone. Their daughter, Shari recalls some of the kids dragging Buster and Bill Vachon onto the dance floor to “shake a leg.” The Sullivans also helped to start a booster bus to take fans to games. Buster enjoyed watching Farmington basketball games from the opposing side of the gym so he could see the fans and the cheerleaders, which included his daughter. Although Gloria was a Nute graduate and would sit on the Nute side during Farmington-Nute games, she did silently cheer for the Tigers. Buster died in 2008, while Gloria lives in an assisted living facility in Tampa, Florida.
