One cannot shoot the breeze about baseball in Farmington without Joe DiPrizio’s name cropping up. Arguably the greatest hitter in Farmington High School baseball history, Joe played for the Tigers from 1994 to 1997 after starring at the youth baseball (64 career home runs!) and Babe Ruth level. A four-time Class M All-State selection, Joe was the Tigers starting catcher during that stretch, leading them to the Class M championship in 1995 (3-2 loss to Hinsdale) and the 1997 semifinals. A three-time team MVP, Joe was named 1997 Class M Player of the Year, hitting .547 with 10 homers and 42 RBIs. He was selected USA Today All-American Honorable Mention. For his career, he hit .488 with 19 homers and 106 runs batted in. “Joe was always the first to practice and the last to leave,” said high school coach Don Dinwoodie. “A very good catcher and probably the best hitter I ever coached. He hit for power and average.” Joe was also a role player on the basketball team and a key member of the Tiger golf teams, starting in eighth grade, that regularly made the Class I-M-S Tournament as one of the smallest schools. The 1995 team went 24-6 and placed fifth in the state tourney behind four Class I schools. He was the most improved player as a junior and team MVP as a senior. He is a two-time club champion at Farmington Country Club. Joe has also given back and continues to do so. He coached at the Farmington 500 Club (10-plus years baseball, five years basketball), was the JV high school baseball coach for four years, and is still active coaching golf for the 500 at FCC, which he has done for the past three years. Joe lives in Farmington with his wife, Michelle. They have two children, Joey III and Karlie. Joe has worked as a lineman for the New Hampshire Electric Co-op since 2006.
